Hi, I’m Margaret!
I want to make people’s lives easier.
I am a problem-solver, motivated by a desire to make meaningful results to improve the lives of the people around me through human-centric thinking.
When I was 18 and starting college, I thought I wanted to do computer science, but after a semester of coding, I realized that I wasn’t passionate about this work and couldn’t imagine doing it my whole life. I took a psychology class on a whim, and a guest lecturer from the Tufts University Human Factors & Engineering Psychology Department changed my life and helped me find the field I now love.
In the years since through my work at MITRE, I have loved learning how people think, what they need, and how to design solutions to their problems.
My Approach
I like projects where I get to be…
Collaborative
Working with developers, other designers, product owners and managers, and other stakeholders makes defining requirements easier.
Iterative
When starting a project, I believe that done is better than perfect. It is easier to discuss ideas that are already illustrated rather than talking about a blank page.
Growing
I am a quick and eager learner, and I love trying different approaches, learning new skills, and expanding my existing expertise.
What do I do outside of work?
Knitting
I have been knitting since I was in elementary school and taught knitting to 30+ girls aged 12 to 17 at Camp Nakanawa in 2017 & 2019.
Reading
I picked up an English minor in college and interned at Grove Atlantic Publishing in 2018 to read more and widen my taste in books. For the past 3 years, I have been able to achieve my goal of 36 books per year.
